Paula and I had signed up to coordinate Sophia and Jack's End Of The Year class picnic. Rather than sticking to the tradition beach theme, we decided on bugs. It was the perfect event to kick off the summer and help celebrate our little love bugs graduating from preschool.
We had lots of tasty bug food on the menu! From spider sandwiches, to ants on a log and caterpillar and butterfly shaped fruit kabobs, and bug juice, our little bugs had plenty to munch on! Oh, and how can I forget the worms in dirt for dessert!
The party consisted of 3 main activities. The "Bug Hunt" started off with each child decorating their own bug catcher. Once this was done they each headed over to look for plastic bugs hiding in the grassy lawn.
Our second activity was called "Bug Spray". After assembling their own bug antennas, they got to spray each other with bug spray. I'm sure you can imagine this was a huge hit!
Our final activity was the "Bug Toss". They loved tossing giant bugs on floating frisbee's. But the best part was missing and getting splashed : )
By the end of the picnic we had quite a few wet bugs and lots of smiling faces ready to buzz on home for a nice afternoon nap!
