Our NYE plans this year were to head to Austin for a dear friend's wedding. Yeah! It was the best of both worlds, a fabulous wedding, with great friends, a NYE celebration and some kid free time with my hubby, that's been way overdue! But before we could get our dance on we had to drop the kids off at my mom's in Dallas. Joe was only able to take off a few days so the plan was for him to meet me in Austin. That meant i would be flying to Texas and back alone with the three kids. Yikes!
Surprisingly, the flight there wasn't bad at all. Since our flight was scheduled to leave right in the middle of naptime, I was expecting 3 meltdowns and a whole lot of whining. But thankfully, that's not what i got. I guess they were tired so the plane ride turned into somewhat of a quiet time for all. Lucas actually fell a asleep while the girls enjoyed watching one of their favorite VeggieTales movies. Painless really!
The flight back, well that's a different story. It was a morning flight so we'd be back home by lunch and then have the rest of the afternoon to unpack and get settled. All I can assume is since we're normally out and about in the mornings, their little bodies and minds are programed to be busy and had no intentions of sitting still for the hour and a half flight back. Lucas was a bear! Fussy and wiggly and the girls could not agree on ANYTHING! If one said black the other insisted it was white and most of the time neither was correct. Needless to say, I was more than exhausted when we arrived! And needed a vacation!
That said, our actual time in Dallas was perfect! We got to spend eight days with Abu and had the best time with the youngest cousin, Juliet!
Juliet was the best little hostess. She was so excited to see "cousins" and share all her fun new toys!
Ring Around the Rosie ... Juliet and Alexandra became the best of friends during this visit!
Juliet even spent the night at Abu's! I wonder how much longer they'll be able to fit in the tub.
All clean and ready for bed! But not before a quick show. Afterall, they're on vacation!
Nighty Nighty!
